How to choose a slow juicer for your morning routine

How to choose a slow juicer for your morning routine

A slow juicer makes sense when you want juice separated from much of the fruit and vegetable pulp. The useful question is not how impressive a machine looks, but whether preparing ingredients and cleaning its parts will fit into your morning.

Start with what you want to drink

Write down two or three combinations you actually enjoy. Check that the exact model accepts those ingredients and read its preparation instructions. Hard stones, thick peel and fibrous ingredients can need different treatment. A wide opening does not mean every whole fruit can go straight in.

If you prefer a thick smoothie containing the blended ingredients, compare a blender instead. For heated plant-based drinks, look at the programmes of a plant milk maker. Our drinks appliance comparison explains the different routines.

Allow space for the whole setup

Measure the counter where the juicer will stand, including room for the juice and pulp containers. Check the height needed to load ingredients and remove the upper parts. A machine that fits beneath a cupboard may still need to be pulled forward for assembly.

Look beyond the motor figure

Power and speed figures describe one part of the design. They do not guarantee a particular juice yield for every fruit or vegetable. Ingredient freshness, preparation and the selected model all matter. Compare the controls, supplied accessories and operating limits on the current product page, rather than judging a machine by wattage alone.

If a reverse function is listed, use it only as described in the manual. It is not a reason to force unsuitable ingredients into the machine. Stop and unplug before taking parts apart or clearing a blockage as directed.

Make cleaning part of the decision

Check how many parts come off and how the filter is cleaned. A clear assembly order and a place to dry the parts can matter more in daily use than an extra accessory. Only put a component in the dishwasher when its instructions specifically permit it. Keep the motor base and electrical connection dry.

Before you order

  • Confirm the model and selected colour or version.
  • Check suitable ingredients and any preparation requirements.
  • Measure the assembled height and space for both containers.
  • Confirm the included filter, containers and cleaning tools.
  • Check the plug and electrical rating for your destination.
